What are the main filling materials?
There are many materials that can be used but the three mains are:
1) Composite Filling. Composite resin fillings are made up of a mixture of plastic and glass powder.
2) Amalgam Filling. Amalgam is usually thought of as a silver filling.
3) Glass Ionomer Filling.
Can I choose the colour or material for my filling ?

Do I have to get anaesthesia injection (numbing injection) to have filling?
No! However, we would like you to have absolutely pain-free procedure but you do not have to have numbing injection if you prefer that way.
Can I eat or drink after my filling?
It depends whether it has been done with numbing injection or not.
If you get a numbing injection, you should wait around 2 or 3 hours to wear off before eating or drinking. But in general you should have soft food for 2 or 3days.
Does my feeling set immediately?
It will take time to fully set it is recommended to have soft food for at least 2-3 days before chewing on the filling.
What are the rules after having a tooth filling?
Teeth may be sensitive to heat and cold for a few days to a week or two after getting a dental filling. Your dentist will likely suggest that you avoid very hot or cold food and beverages. If the sensitivity doesn’t go away in a few weeks, talk to your dentist.
What is the strongest filling for teeth?
Ultimately, amalgam and gold are both considered to be both safe and the strongest options available, but this doesn’t necessarily make them the best choice of filling material for your cavity.
What is bonding filling?
It is a tooth-coloured filling material that dentist adds to the edge of tooth or over whole front surface of the teeth to improve appearance of the teeth including correcting the shape, or colour of the teeth or align them. If it is placed at the edge of teeth, it is called composite edge bonding, while if it is placed in front of teeth, it is called Composite veneer, which may not need any drilling and injection. It is fast procedure and can be done only in 30 minutes.
