There are many materials that can be used but the three mains are:

1) Composite Filling. Composite resin fillings are made up of a mixture of plastic and glass powder.

No! However, we would like you to have absolutely pain-free procedure but   you do not have to have numbing injection if you prefer that way.

It depends whether it has been done with numbing injection or not.

If you get a numbing injection, you should wait around 2 or 3 hours to wear off before eating or drinking. But in general you should have soft food for 2 or 3days.

It will take time to fully set it is recommended to have soft food for at least 2-3 days before chewing on the filling.

Teeth may be sensitive to heat and cold for a few days to a week or two after getting a dental filling. Your dentist will likely suggest that you avoid very hot or cold food and beverages. If the sensitivity doesn’t go away in a few weeks, talk to your dentist.

Ultimately, amalgam and gold are both considered to be both safe and the strongest options available, but this doesn’t necessarily make them the best choice of filling material for your cavity.
